After over 10 years of marijuana legalization, impaired driving remains an outstanding policy issue related to cannabis across the country, and it is increasingly important to address concerns regarding responsible usage and road safety.
On Thursday, July 13, at 2:00pm, CCI will be hosting a presentation from VS Strategies and Cognivue where they will review the latest advancements in marijuana impairment technology and discuss legislation that would introduce pilot programs and grant funding at the local and county levels to field-test this technology. This new potential solution is being tested in different states around the country, aiming to provide individuals, employers, and law enforcement agencies with an effective tool to detect and manage impairment in a fair and accurate manner.
During this presentation, you will have the opportunity to:
• Learn about this new technology designed to detect and measure cognitive impairment.
• Understand how this cutting-edge system operates and its potential impact on public safety.
• Explore the practical applications of this technology for DUID assessment.
• Engage in a thought-provoking discussion with industry experts and professionals at the forefront of this field.
• Discuss potential legislative approaches to structure funding and applications for pilot programs at the county level that promote responsible cannabis use and advance safety measures.
This is a particularly important issue for our counties and the input and feedback from commissioners and county staff to the proponents of this technology and pilot program will be incredibly valuable.
Feel free to reach out to Katie First if you have any questions or require further information. County staff are welcome and encouraged to attend as well.
