Seeking County Representatives for the Natural Disaster Mitigation Enterprise Board – Letters of Interest Due March 1st
Last session, HB21-1208 created a new enterprise that collects a fee charged to certain insurers and uses fee revenue to administer a natural hazard mitigation grant program available to local governments.
The Enterprise provides local governments with technical assistance on natural disaster mitigation, and is dedicated to:
- Reducing the negative impacts from future disasters on lives, property, and the economy;
- Improving the resilience of local communities given the increased frequency and intensity of severe weather events resulting from climate change;
- Engaging in mitigation activities that directly reduce risks to lives and property, are cost-effective, technically feasible, science-based, ecologically sound, and environmentally sound as well as allowing strategic investment of limited resources and not harming underserved communities;
- Reducing repetitive losses;
- Utilizing federal funding available for natural disaster mitigation projects; and
- Supporting communities with limited capacity to plan, prepare, and submit grant proposals.
There are four local government seats available on the Board (at least one county rep. and one municipal rep). If you’re interested in serving, please submit a letter of interest and résumé or curriculum vitae to Austin Geddis at austin.geddis@state.co.us on or before March 1, 2022.

During her tenure she garnered many awards and accolades including the Hazie Werner Award and the CCI Foundation Distinguished Service Award.

Help Shape Behavioral Health in Colorado
Health Management Association (HMA) is offering the following engagement opportunities to discuss potential solutions for the formation of the BHA. The goal of these discussions is to share ideas about how the BHA could be formed and collect feedback from you to be sure we are accurately capturing the pros and cons of each potential idea. We will incorporate this feedback into our discussions with the Behavioral Health Reform Executive Committee and Governor’s Office who will make the ultimate decision about how the BHA is formed.
Similarly to what we did in the first round of stakeholder engagement (watch here), we are organizing the sessions by sector and trying to keep the size reasonable to support strong discussion (even if we have to use breakout groups for larger groups). We will be doing the same and would like to offer that for your sector, you join the following session:
County Discussion
Monday May 3rd 2:00 – 3:30 pm (Register HERE)
We recognize that you may not all be able to join this session and we will be hosting three Alternative Sessions (listed below) that will be open to all stakeholders. We will do our best to divide into meaningful groups where appropriate but the Alternative Sessions may end up combining stakeholder sectors.
- Alternative Option #1: Thursday, May 6th 7:00 – 8:30 am (Register HERE)
- Alternative Option #2: Monday, May 10th 5:00 – 6:30 pm (Register HERE)
- Alternative Option #3: Wednesday, May 12th 12:00 – 1:30 pm (Register HERE)
Finally, we will be offering an Open Forum open to anyone in the state on May 7th from 1:30-3:00 pm (Register HERE).
Thank you for ongoing engagement and support. Please let us know additional questions and or concerns. As a reminder you can monitor our progress at http://bit.ly/BHA-Colorado.
